"Because of Black Music I AM"

We are artists with roots in the African Diaspora seeking to build community by developing a platform for folks to share their stories of how Black Music has inspired and shaped their lives. We believe that there is value and healing in our stories.

Because of Black Music IAM (BOBM), is a two-day music festival in celebration of Black Music Month being held on June 10th and 11th, 2023.  BOBM is a soulful conversation piece developed to bring together local artists, industry professionals, and the community to make connections and create awareness about the impact of Black music and the need to establish new music industry infrastructures ensuring the longevity of not only Black music but Black Artists.

What is Black Music to you? How do you share and celebrate Black Artists? How has it helped shaped your existence? "When I sit back and think about how Black music has shaped the world I get chills. From Africa to the United States and beyond... the music birthed from enslaved Africans has fueled our souls, inspired movements, woven cultures together, and built wealth for millions of entertainers around the globe. Where would we be as a nation without the contribution of Black Musicians? " ~Valerie Troutt, Founder
